These wireless earphones Cost $250 But Does Not Play Music

This question might sound silly to you but it's quite funny as well, How much will you be willing to pay for a pair of earphones that don’t play your favourite music? Chances are you will say a big fat zero. However, Bose wants you to pay close to $250 for a pair of wireless earbuds that don’t play music but help you “sleep better”.

Yes, audio equipment manufacturer Bose, which has been renowned for making best in class products that deliver exceptional audio quality has now launched a rather unconventional "noise masking" wireless earbuds -- called Sleepbuds. The Sleepbuds are said to block out all forms of external noise such as traffic, loud neighbours and even snoring to help you sleep.

These Sleepbuds come pre-loaded with 10 soothing sounds -- some optimized for masking and others for relaxation -- all claimed to help you sleep. The soothing sounds mostly sound we hear from nature all around us such as cascading waterfall, rainfall on leaves, rolling and crashing waves etc. These soothing sounds are set to play all night, however, you can choose to schedule a timer if you don’t want soothing sounds to play all night. This timer can be set within the Bose Sleep app, and the sound will fade out when the timer ends.

They also offer wake-up alarm that you can set by using the Bose Sleep app. And since these Sleepbuds are tucked in your ears, you can hear the alarm.

The Sleepbuds are said to automatically turn on when removed from the case. There are no user controls on the Sleep beds and all the control is done via the app. This includes the selection of sounds, volume control, setting alarms, and managing updates. The Sleepbuds come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and are compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

Like most other wireless earbuds, they too come with a charging case that recharges them and is said to deliver one additional full charge to them. They have a claimed charging time of 8 hours and a battery life of up to 16 hours. The charging case has an up to 3 hours of charging time.

Started out as a crowdfunding project on Indiegogo, they have now become available in the US at a cost of $250 and start shipping mid-July. You might lose sleep over paying so much for a pair of 'music-less' earphones but they promise you to make sleep better. Talk about being ironical, huh?
