Procrastination and how to minimize it as to stay productive

The expression "procrastination" has brought the ideas, work, achievement and success of so many to a state of comatose while leaving them unproductive. What does it mean to say procrastination?  Procrastination is the avoidance of doing the task that needs to be accomplished. It is the act of postponing what you ought to do at a time to another time.

Procrastination take hold on every aspect of life; students do, lecturer do, traders do, manager do yet it hinders productivity and makes the next day activities much. There are a lot of setbacks that procrastination will cause in the life of a man, hence, it is noteworthy to say that, minimizing or eradicating procrastination is a great deal that will without a doubt result to productivity.

Before diving deeper into the discourse of dealing with procrastination you have to understand these three things:

  • Understanding that procrastination is a bad habit. if you don't see it as immoral you can't deal with it.
  • You don't deal with procrastination; you deal with yourself to be disciplined.
  • You must also understand the importance of time. If you don't value time you misuse it.

Ways of minimizing procrastination

1. Value whatever you want to do. 
When you value your “to do list” and know so well the consequences of not doing them, it will help you not to procrastinate.

2. Start off your day with work
What do I mean by this? There are quite a number of people that have an idea of one thing or the other but never take action on them. That particular idea you have in your head can only be done now and not tomorrow. You cannot produce what you have not initiated. The only way to achieve the idea or the theory that exists in your brain is to always put it into action and this action can best be initiated at the dawn of your day.

3. Avoid distraction
It may occur to you that, how can distraction cause procrastination? Yes, when you are being occupied with things that entertains you; you immediately get distracted and indisputably, the work that needs to be done as to make you productive, thereby yielding fertile outcome will result to abandonment which in most of the cases, you will not be able to achieve them in the time to come.

4. List your task and start off with one that seems difficult or more rewarding or even urgent. People have so much failed in this aspect. You have to prioritize activities that will make you stay productive and not things that doesn't give you quality output. This is it, putting commitment into what seems to be hard will help you break the thought of procrastination.

5. Why penning down your “to do list” as evaluates your strength, weakness, goals, priorities. Don't set bogus goals but set goals in line with your strength. Set reality goals too and be conscious of time.

There are other ways to minimize procrastination yet the above listed are effective ways to incorporate into your daily life as to stay productive.
